Cambridge Outdoor Church

On the 3rd Saturday of each month, volunteers from Harvard-Epworth prepare and distribute sandwiches to persons in Harvard Square and Porter Square who are experiencing homelessness. Volunteers (individuals or groups) from the church are invited to provide sandwiches as well as to distribute them. A sign-up sheet can be found in the entrance hall of the church building for those interested in being a part of this vital ministry. For more information go to https://theoutdoorchurch.org.

Friday Cafe

The Friday Café is a welcoming space where homeless and housed neighbors can gather and get to know each other. It offers food and coffee, rest and resources to people living on the margins – and most importantly it offers community. At the Friday Café, people experiencing a wide variety of life circumstances can relax, share a meal and talk together as friends. Friday Cafe is located at First Church UCC, right across Cambridge Common from Harvard-Epworth Church. Volunteers fro Harvard-Epworth serve together on the third Friday of the month, cooking meals, assisting in the kitchen, and serving our neighbors.  For more information go to https://www.thefriday.cafe.

Thrive on Campus

Thrive on Campus (TOC), led by MIT Chaplain and Harvard-Epworth Deacon Rev. Natalie Hill, offers a weekly program of Meaningful Meals to food-insecure students – and students looking for community – at MIT.  As part of our commitment to serving students, Harvard-Epworth volunteers help provide a meal on one Monday of each month. 

TOC also makes a Farmers Market of non-perishable food available to students throughout the week, which Harvard-Epworth helps supply through donations.

Prayer Network

The Prayer Network holds the prayer concerns and celebrates the prayer joys of our community, bringing the specific situation into their own prayer lives.  Working as a loosely connected group of pray-ers, the Prayer Network reminds people that they are not alone, that they are loved, and that God’s presence is available in all situations.  It is an active way to share our faith with each other!
