Worship
The glory of God is a human being fully alive – Irenaeus.
Worship at Harvard-Epworth strives to engage mind, spirit, and body as we experience together the best of ancient, classical, and contemporary music, liturgy and spirituality. You may hear an ancient Celtic Call to Worship, share in a prayer written by a young Queer Womanist theologian, experience the power of Silence to center our souls and open our hearts to the Spirit’s presence. And, as Methodists, we love singing hymns!
One can expect to hear readings from the Hebrew Scriptures and Greek New Testament, experience thoughtful Biblical preaching to challenge and encourage, share prayers to lift up joys and concerns, and learn about opportunities to live out our faith in the world.
God loves all music, and so do we! So you might hear classic hymnody, African-American spirituals, powerful organ music, djembe drumming, Vivaldi on piano, Taizé chant, choral anthems, or bluegrass harmonies. (Maybe all on the same Sunday!)
We strive for worship that pleases God, transforms hearts and minds, and challenges us constantly to grow more and more into the fully alive people God yearns for us to be.
Each Sunday morning we gather for worship at 11:00 A.M. for the main service. The worship is family-friendly with music, a Young People’s Message, and Nursery provided. Stick around for coffee, treats, and fellowship afterwards!
At 9:00 A.M. there is a more intimate service with piano and weekly communion.
